At Tendring Technology College (‘TTC’) we are an extremely forward-thinking and motivated department. Mathematics is taught in ability groups with access to well-equipped classrooms and computer rooms. Students benefit from 4 hours of Mathematics teaching per week from year 8. The first formal GCSE Examination is undertaken by our most able students at the end of year 9, studying GCSE Statistics. GCSE Mathematics is completed by all students at the end of year 11. At A level, Mathematics and Further Mathematics are offered. We also offer the new Level 3 qualification Core Maths. We work closely with both the Matrix Essex and Herts and Norfolk and Suffolk Maths Hubs and also collaborate actively with the AET National Mathematics team. We recognise the importance of continued professional development and a wide range of training opportunities are available through our work with the NCETM, MEI and FMSP.
We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic, dynamic, and committed teacher of mathematics. We have a strong team ethos and are looking for a like-minded person to join the department at an exciting time of its development. We would welcome applications from both newly qualified and experienced teachers alike.
Tendring Technology College is a large successful 11-18 mixed comprehensive school, which has two campuses; Frinton Campus (14-18) and Thorpe Campus (11-14). Following designation as a teaching school is now the lead school of the Tendring Teaching School Alliance. Tendring Technology College is a large split site comprehensive school for students aged 11-18, located in the pleasant village of Thorpe-le-Soken and the historic town of Frinton-on-Sea. The mix of this rural and coastal location is a lovely backdrop for our young people and at the same time there is easy access to Colchester, the oldest recorded town in the country, and the capital itself, London.
Thorpe Campus is situated in the village of Thorpe-le-Soken. It serves students aged 11-14. Our Frinton Campus serves the needs of students aged 14-19. We take children from a large area surrounding the College. This includes Thorpe-le-Soken, Kirby-le-Soken, Kirby Cross, Great Holland, Little Clacton, Weeley, Tendring, Little Bentley, Wix, Beaumont, Great Oakley, Frinton-on-Sea, Walton-on-the-Naze as well as a number of students who travel from much further afield including Harwich, Alresford and Colchester.
Tendring Technology College is an academy and it converted in August 2011. The school was judged to be ‘inadequate’ following an Ofsted inspection in November. The outcome was ‘serious weaknesses’ rather than ‘special measures’ in recognition of the fact that the trust and school leaders were taking the right actions to improve the school and had effective capacity to do so.
