Can you make a difference to the future lives of Glasgow's children? Glasgow City Council is seeking to recruit teacher of Mathematics to work in the Mathematics department within the school. You must be committed, passionate and a well qualified staff member. We will support you to inspire the learning of our children and young people. Teaching duties - To teach subject(s) to pupils S1-S6. To prepare lessons and courses required - supporting the delivery of Curriculum for Excellence across all ages and stages of the secondary school. In addition to the range of teaching and other duties outlined in the job specification we are looking for individuals who enjoy working collegiately with colleagues, and who have with a firm commitment to improving the outcomes for Glasgow's young people.
Membership of the Protection of Vulnerable Groups Scheme will be essential on taking up appointment along with GTCS Registration. Please note successful candidates for the above position will be required to pay for their PVG Membership/or Scheme Checks.

About Drumchapel High School
Drumchapel High School is a comprehensive secondary school in the city of Glasgow, Scotland. The school is co-educational, with capacity for around 850 pupils, making it smaller than the average secondary school of its type. Drumchapel moved onto a new site in 2012, and as a result can boast a range of modern facilities, including its own football pitch and games hall. Drumchapel High School has an economically diverse catchment area, a fact reflected in the school’s student intake.

Drumchapel High School runs an unusual school day. Instead of a five-lesson school day, the schedule is asymmetrical. Mondays and Tuesdays see the school day finish at 4pm, with seven lessons of 50 minutes each. Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays finish earlier, with no final lesson. The curriculum at Drumchapel is designed to be as inclusive and engaging as possible, with the school working hard to fulfil its comprehensive ethos by ensuring that appropriate choices are available for each student regardless of background or academic ability.

“Senior pupils involved in the peer support programme are developing confidence and responsibility through their work with S1 pupils, including in class and through paired reading. Some young people are developing citizenship skills through charity work, with a few developing responsibility and leadership as house captains and vice captains. Others are developing skills through Culinary Excellence, and in sport and dance leadership.”
