Job overview

Teacher of Mathematics

Mill Chase Academy, Bordon, Hampshire

Salary Grade:  MPR / UPR (TLR is negotiable)

Start Date:  September 2017 ________________________________________________________________

In October 2016, MCA was inspected by Ofsted for the first time since becoming an academy. Inspectors have judged the school to be “Good” in all categories.

This is further good news for us as we celebrated our best ever GCSE results in August and have recently received confirmation that the Education Funding Agency and Hampshire County Council are contributing over £17million to our new £30million buildings.

Ofsted reported that “Pupils have consistently positive attitudes to their learning and that parents, pupils and staff recognise good behaviour as a strength of the school.  Pupils are polite and respectful towards each other and their teachers as they move around the school.”

They also reported that, “Pupils are safe, happy and well looked after. Teachers are passionate about doing their best for the pupils they teach and pupils are making increasingly good progress and standards are rising because of improvements to teaching.”

As an excellent and enthusiastic Mathematics Teacher, you will join an active, forward-thinking Department, to teach across Key Stages 3 and 4 and the whole ability range, working together to create an extremely positive learning culture based on high expectations, the building of Mathematics skills and a huge enthusiasm for the subject.

The role offers excellent opportunities for a well-qualified, creative and dynamic Mathematics specialist who will build on the success of the department.  You will be an engaging, forward-thinking and dedicated professional who is willing to commit to extra-curricular activities that add value to the academy and community.  If you are a Newly Qualified Teacher, you would be offered a comprehensive induction programme and all staff are given the opportunity to engage in further professional development.

We are proud to be part of the University of Chichester Academy Trust, opening opportunities for staff to access quality research and receive personal support from an institution recognised locally and nationally as outstanding in its Initial Teacher Training provision.  The leadership team of the Academy is progressive and has the vision, drive and support to lead the Academy on a journey of excellence, with staff that have a passion for teaching and learning.  Challenging, inspiring and encouraging students to excel as individuals and raising aspirations through quality teaching and learning to develop students’ academic and life-skills is important to us, with our community at its heart.

Closing date: Monday 15 May (Noon)

Interview date: w/c Monday 15 May

Visits to the Academy would be warmly welcomed and to find out more, or to arrange an informal visit to the Academy, please download the job description, person specification and an application form from our website www.millchase.hants.sch.uk/vacancies, or alternatively contact the Principal’s PA on 01420 470329 or e-mail:c.tutton@millchase.hants.sch.uk.

Please note that we cannot accept Hampshire County Council application forms.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

About Oakmoor School

Oakmoor School is a brand new, state of the art secondary school situated in a 22 acre tree lined site on the edge of the South Downs National Park.

We benefit from cutting edge technology throughout the site and the latest specialist equipment for key areas such as science, technology and performing arts. Our main buildings surround a central court yard which includes covered areas for outside dining and seating areas outside of the learning resource centre for reading at break and lunch times.

There is an abundance of green spaces which include several sports pitches, an athletics track, a nurture garden and a forest school area for outside learning and activities. The whole site is bordered by mature trees providing a relaxing and inspirational backdrop to our inspirational learning environment.

We are a very successful school where high levels of respect and conduct prevail. Our success shows that when you couple high quality pastoral care with high standards and expectations, young people are able to flourish and to achieve their very best.

Headteacher

Nigel Wright

Values and Vision

The Oakmoor ethos is encapsulated by our motto: Ambition, Courage, Excellence.  We are a friendly, vibrant school with high standards and expectations. We pride ourselves on knowing every young person as an individual and challenging each of them to have the highest possible aspirations.

Teachers aim to provide engaging lessons which are fun for all students.  Oakmoor School hopes pupils take advantage of the opportunities presented to them, including clubs and activities outside of the classroom.

Ofsted Report

In November 2021 Ofsted judged our school as "Good" in all categories.  The report recognised how talented and dedicated our teachers are and how well our students demonstrate positive attitudes to their learning and to all members of our school community.

We are continuing our journey to becoming an outstanding school in partnership with all local stakeholders, especially our parents and students.
