The School
Established fifty years ago, the British School of Milan is an independent, co-educational, not-for-profit organisation enjoying a national and international reputation for excellence. The School offers students the English National Curriculum up to (I)GCSE, and the IB Diploma in the Sixth Form, with a wide range of co-curricular activities throughout. Teaching staff work in a positive and friendly atmosphere with bright and responsive students. The 2022 cohort gained an average of 37 IB diploma points, and (I)GCSE results yielded an A*/A grade (or equivalent) average of 71%, with 98% achieving all 9-4 (A* – C) grades, and 9 students achieving perfect scores. Last year, 4 students received offers to study at the University of Oxford, with others receiving offers from, among other world-class institutions, the universities of Yale and Columbia in the U.S.
Living in Milan
The school is situated close to the centre of Milan, a cosmopolitan city, the financial capital of Italy, and an exciting place in which to live and work. It boasts one of the grandest squares in Europe, dominated by a spectacular cathedral and arcade. Art treasures include The Last Supper by Leonardo and the Rondanini Pietà by Michelangelo, while La Scala is one of the premier opera houses in the world. The fashion houses of Prada, Armani and Versace have their headquarters here, while two of the most celebrated football teams in Europe play in the San Siro stadium. Milan recently hosted the World Expo, has excellent public transport, three international airports, and world-class healthcare, making it one of the world’s great cities.
