The Academy is seeking to appoint a highly motivated and innovative Teacher of Mathematics who is committed to maintaining a consistently high standard of teaching and learning. Applications would be welcomed from newly qualified or experienced teachers. There is also the potential for a teaching and learning responsibility for a suitable candidate who may be interested in an additional curriculum or role.

Our Mathematics Department is high performing, friendly and supportive. Our results in terms of progress and attainment at both GCSE and A Level have been significantly above national averages for the past three years.In 2018, we were recognised for ‘Outstanding A Level Performance’ by Oxford Analytics due to our Further Mathematics class making the highest average student progress in this subject in England  We are a member of the West London Maths Hub, are actively participating in the national mastery programme and we are currently undertaking A Level research with Pearson and UCL.We have a coaching ethos at Chelsea Academy and Mathematics teachers in collaboration with their line manager are expected to reflect and develop their own practice along with contributing teaching and learning ideas.The Mathematics Department have led on some really innovative pedagogies in the last few years and as a result have seen strong impact in teaching and outcomes

Candidates for the role should have:

  • An excellent track record teaching at GCSE and AS/A2 level demonstrated through exemplary examination results
  • A passion for mathematics and the ability to inspire and enthuse students of all aptitudes
  • Strong subject knowledge with the capability to teach outstanding lessons in mathematics up to A-Level
  • The capacity to contribute to the development of the Academy’s Christian ethos
  • High expectations of students in terms of learning, achievement and behaviour
  • Enthusiasm for developing innovative approaches to learning, teaching and student participation

However, we are much more than a successful, academically focused school. It is important that all of our staff, whether they are teachers or not, work closely with our young people and ensure that they are successful in all that they do. Chelsea Academy is one of the few schools in the country with Investors in People Gold, our staff are friendly and supportive and we offer a whole range of professional development opportunities no matter what stage you are at in your career. We want all of our teachers to be excellent practitioners, passionate and inspired by their subject, and so offer unrivalled professional development and support. This includes an early close for students every Wednesday to allow for meetings and CPD (including opportunities to regularly visit other schools for newly qualified teachers) and a thriving in house Lead Practitioner team that coach and support staff across the Academy. Through the Chelsea Academy Way for Learning we have a simple, flexible and consistent way of developing outstanding teaching. Most of our senior and middle leaders started as teachers with us and have developed into highly talented practitioners. As well as taking care of you as a person we also offer fantastic students and embedded behaviour and teaching and learning policies. The Academy’s specialism is the sciences and we also offer 10% of our places to students with a musical aptitude. Our most recent Ofsted inspection in September 2023, saw us being judged strongly good in all areas. Our current SIAMS grading is outstanding.
