Job overview

Ref: 168032

The Governors of this popular and successful 11-19 Community School are seeking to appoint a Teacher of Mathematics from September 2019 - or sooner if possible.

Following the appointment of the previous post holder to a more responsible post in a larger school, this will be a permanent appointment from the outset.  The post is suitable for NQT's, staff in the early years of their career looking to progress as well as colleagues with significant teaching experience.  Alder Grange has an excellent record of staff support and an on-going commitment to CPD.  The school is currently the lead school in a SCITT with three other local high schools and co-ordinates training opportunities across East Lancashire.  The successful applicant will be expected to teach across the full 11-19 age range and to all ability groups.

Applications are welcomed from suitably experienced or enthusiastic practitioners.  The application should comprise a fully completed Application Form together with a supporting letter detailing any skills or experience you feel that you could bring to the school.  Completed applications should be returned no later than 12 noon on Friday, 8th February 2019, either as printed copies sent directly to the school or as electronic copies sent to bursar@aldergrange.lancs.sch.uk

Interviews are planned to be held in late February/early March.

The school is committed to the safeguarding of children and expects all members of the school community to subscribe to that aim.  A range of supporting documents  are included to help in your application and applicants are encouraged to visit the school website for further information on the school and its ethos. Any appointments will be subject to a DBS clearance and proof of entitlement to work in the UK.

The post you are applying for is covered by the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (as amended in 2013). If successful you will be required to apply to the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) for a 'disclosure'.

Lancashire County Council has a Policy Statement on the Recruitment of Ex-offenders this is available to all applicants upon request.

Application attached. Return forms by post, direct to school or electronically to: bursar@aldergrange.lancs.sch.uk.

Closing date: 8 February 2019.

Welcome to Alder Grange School.

In our school (AGS), Sixth Form Centre (AG6) and inclusion centre (AG+) you will find an outstanding educational community dedicated to the successful development of the whole child and young person. Naturally, academic progress and attainment are extremely important to us, and you will find our results reflect this. This is due to a total commitment to excellent teaching and learning by a highly skilled and dedicated staff, constantly reflecting upon and developing their own practice.

It is also due to a genuine care for and partnership with our pupils, student and their families.

But this is only one aspect of the right our young people have to achieve all round personal excellence. So we are not an “examination factory”. We place considerable emphasis on developing the foundations of personal achievement; their emotional and physical health and well-being, their social, moral, spiritual and cultural development, creativity and individuality. Our intention is to help our young people grow to become outstanding, independent, resilient and effective citizens in an uncertain, global 21st Century world.

Our success has been recognized in many ways. We have been recognized by Ofsted as “Outstanding” since 2004 and this was further reflected in the school receiving the North West regional and then the UK Headteacher of the Year award (2004-5). Our award of High Performing Specialist School status (2007) led to our third specialism (Applied Learning) being added to Technology and Leading Edge, which in turn helped secure our state-of-the-art and purpose designed £8 million Sixth Form Centre.
