As Teacher of Mathematics, this is an exciting opportunity to join us at an important time of our history; we are firmly on our way to achieving successful ratings from Ofsted with our sights set on becoming an Outstanding school. Our success in improving standards of learning and behaviour are an integral part of this journey. The successful candidate will inspire and motivate students to ensure that they achieve their full potential, you will be engaging, enigmatic and enthusiastic.

This role would be suitable for either a Newly Qualified Teacher or a more experienced colleague; enthusiasm, passion and a commitment to inspiring young people are more important than years of experience.

Kings Lynn Academy is a positive place of learning. Our students range from age 11 to 16 and have a range of backgrounds and abilities and are a true reflection of the local area. Our existing staff, whether support or teaching, work well together as a team with the best interests of all of our students at heart.

The successful candidate will maximise the enjoyment, engagement and outcomes of young people in Maths. You will develop innovative, non-traditional approaches to the mathematic curriculum in order to ensure appropriate access and achievement for all students. Our Mission is ‘Learning without Limits’. We will support every student to make great progress and we will remove and ceilings to achievement. We want every student to be the best they can be.

We support every student by setting challenging targets for students’ future success. We support each student from their own starting point. We believe that success is best achieved by doing the little things well, every day and through a consistent desire from every student to make continual progress. Focusing on daily personal bests helps students to go further faster.

Welcome, and thank you for your interest in King’s Lynn Academy (KLA).

We are incredibly proud to have been recognised by Ofsted as a “Good” school in May 2022. This is an incredible achievement and we are very pleased to have the hard work and determination of the students, staff and KLA community, recognised.

At KLA we are lucky to have an energised, skilful and committed staff who work together to continue to make our school better.  Relationships between staff, pupils and families are very strong, and our phenomenally energetic pastoral team are proactive in their communication with families and dedication towards the pupils.

We believe that this is a great place to be and to learn. Our motto is ‘success in all we do’. We do not put any ceilings on how high our students can go and we have high ambitions for everyone here. We are committed to a simple but powerful message: ‘achieving our full potential together’.

Our commitment to inclusion is reflected in our innovative ‘Forward Step’ base, created in 2018.  The programme offers an outstanding educational provision, delivering support and a broad and balanced curriculum which meets the needs of each individual student, linking the academic and therapeutic through a wholly holistic approach. We are proud of its huge success, which has strongly contributed to our being able to reduce all forms of exclusion by over 95% in just two years.

Alongside curriculum and enrichment opportunities, KLA embraces community fund raising; together our students, parents and staff have raised more than £9000 for Macmillan and have welcomes more than 100 local elderly residents in for a celebratory Christmas lunch, cooked and provided by KLA staff and students.

The curriculum that we plan for our pupils is ambitious, with its aim being clear that all pupils, regardless of their circumstances or needs, are enabled to be as successful as possible both academically and socially.  There are many ways that we support each pupil individually to achieve their goals, including support for the development of their character, resilience, community-spirit and mental health.  Our innovative system of ‘Personal Development Plans’, including an entitlement to at least three developmental face to face meetings for every pupil every year, is designed to make sure every pupil gets the individual advice, guidance and support they need to be successful, and that parents are included at every step.

Everyone is constantly learning in our academy – including our staff. Regardless of how long you have been teaching, or where you are in your career, you are guaranteed first class professional development at KLA. We aim to support teachers in developing their subject knowledge as well as refining their teaching practice within their discipline. Alongside this we develop colleagues’ understanding of wider teaching theory more generally - their pedagogical content knowledge. Our aim is to put theory into practice, and our CPD programme looks to make tangible differences in the classroom.
