Our Mathematics department

Our Maths curriculum has been designed with two compatible principles in mind: mastery and the science of learning. We believe that all of our pupils can be successful mathematicians; the ultimate aim is for our pupils to be able to demonstrate mathematical thinking and problem solving. To do so, they require the necessary fluency in important facts, procedures and concepts, alongside rich experiences in reasoning mathematically, to make progress when solving unfamiliar problems.

The department has a range of experience and expertise; we are united as passionate mathematicians who work hard to implement an innovative curriculum with high expectations. We enjoy delving into discussions about subject-specific pedagogy and collaborating with lesson planning, sharing ideas and resources. Within our brand new facility, we have a department office and maths IT suite, each of our classrooms is equipped with an interactive whiteboard, visualiser, mini whiteboards, manipulatives and new textbooks.
