Job overview

Job Description
Bertha Park High School is Scotland’s newest secondary school and the first non-replacement school in twenty years which opened its doors to S1 and S2 pupils in August 2019. The school values of Respect for yourself, Respect for others and Respect for the Bertha Park way underpin all aspects of school life.

The key to educational success for our learners is a professionally skilled and enthusiastic team. As a Microsoft Flagship School, digital learning is embedded in day to day teaching and learning. Our 1:1 strategy sees iPads issued to all pupils.

We believe that 21st Century learners should develop the skills of collaboration and communication, problem solving and innovation, critical thinking, creativity and knowledge construction.

We are delighted to offer the opportunity to be part of this exciting journey by joining the Mathematics department.

We welcome applications from positive teachers with a commitment to excellence and innovation in teaching and learning, who can support pupils to develop these skills.

The Individual
We are looking for a motivated and creative teacher of Mathematics who will help to shape and grow the department as further year groups are added to the roll.

We require a teacher who values consistency and mutually respectful relationships with staff, pupils, parents and the local community.

You will be an effective and engaging classroom practitioner, willing to establish ways of teaching which develop our ambitious approach to technology in the classroom, have experience in developing a curriculum and be able to assess, record and report on the progress of pupils.

The start date for this post will be Monday 20 April 2020.

When completing your application for this post, please ensure that you provide contact details for two referees, including email addresses. One should be your current or most recent employer. If you are already employed as a teacher with Perth & Kinross Council, you are only required to provide 1 reference, which must be from your current Head Teacher.

As part of our safer recruitment measures, Perth & Kinross Council carries out rigorous checks on the right to work in the UK, qualifications, employment history, including references, and fitness to undertake the post.

Some jobs may have been traditionally carried out predominately by one gender, but we would encourage you to apply if you meet the requirements, irrespective of your gender.

Perth & Kinross Council welcomes applications from former armed forces personnel/reservists. Many of the skills picked up during your military career could be transferred directly into a role with local government.
