Teaching Mathematics in a clear style, using current examples and technology to vary teaching styles, you will encourage pupils in a supportive yet challenging environment where they can surpass their expectations of what is achievable.
Teachers at Uppingham also play a full part in the life of this seven-day week boarding school, by taking on responsibilities in addition to classroom teaching.

Mathematics is a popular subject at the school. The department has a strong culture of supporting pupils into Oxbridge courses with a good track record of successful applicants. The department also hosts a range of guest speakers, recently including university lecturers and members of the Royal Academy of Engineering.

Work is generally presented neatly and pupils’ note-taking is effective. They develop good numeracy skills and their capacity to think critically is notable. Creative abilities are well developed and their exploration of ideas is particularly marked in their enrichment activities. Pupils’ study habits are good. In the lessons observed, pupils worked very well with each other, and also worked well independently. They enjoy their work and this stems in part from the good-natured atmosphere in lessons.
