We are looking for an enthusiastic, ambitious and focused individual who has a passion for mathematics and teaching and wants to help create mathematicians’ of the future.
The Maths department at TBS is thriving and expanding. We offer A Level Maths and are looking to further develop KS5 courses the person appointed will have a pivotal role in helping develop the departments’ involvement in the International Baccalaureate Career Program curriculum. At KS4 we offer Further Maths for our most able students.
The department has its own teaching rooms with interactive projectors and whiteboards. The Maths team is one of the leading departments in using technology and students’ own devices to enhance learning in the subject and provide personalised support. We have excellent schemes of work, digital resources as well as traditional materials and our cross-curricular links with other subject areas are strong. We are passionate about promoting maths learning and we regularly host whole school activities such as House competitions and are involved with the National Challenge and local Maths Feast (further maths support) events.
There are a number of extra-curricular activities and trips that the department run each year, ranging from university math’s departments to STEM project work
At TBS, you will be part of a welcoming, supportive and dedicated staff team of specialist maths teachers and one to one support staff. You will also have access to professional development through a series of CPD activities, with a whole school, departmental and individual focus. Our school is vibrant with many extra-curricular activities and opportunities, and we encourage getting involved in existing clubs and societies or even starting your own.
If appointed, you will be joining TBS during our exciting journey into Visible Learning using the research of John Hattie. Visible Learning aims to develop our pedagogy, as teachers become evaluators of their own teaching. Our teaching and learning approach centres on what has the biggest impact on student learning using the simple concepts of; impact, change, challenge and learning focus.
