They will be inspiring and able to motivate and challenge students to make rapid progress. They will have an acute understanding of curriculum developments and thus the drive and enthusiasm in supporting the development of a curriculum that incorporates mastery and challenge.

At St Joseph’s GCSE Mathematics pupils and A Level Mathematics pupils follow the Edexcel exam board syllabus. The department have been working tirelessly in designing a curriculum that supports the relevant standards of mastery required in Key Stage 4 and 5. The successful candidate will have the necessary skills and innovation to further develop a curriculum that enables rapid progress for all of our students.

At St. Joseph’s we challenge our teachers to, ‘love the children, and to let them know that they are loved,’ through everything we do with our students to ‘Unlock the Belief’ in themselves and others. To support teachers in this mission we support teachers by:

·        We have a behaviour system that lets teachers teach

·        We treat teachers like surgeons with weekly CPD and training

·        We have small class sizes and give teachers time to prepare

·        All teachers are included in our reading and electives programme

·        We work hard for the children and we care for each other like a family

Recently designated “Outstanding” (Section 48) in November 2018, St Joseph’s is a school where “pupils make outstanding progress.  St Joseph’s is well known for being a great school to teach in, where the students are highly aspirational”.

In 2016 the school was described as having a “deep seated conviction and moral purpose that all pupils have the right to an excellent education which drives a positive culture in the school”. Our recent Progress 8 score from 2018 to 2022 has been +0.58, +0.51, +0.43 and +0.42 which places us regularly in the top 10% of schools nationally. We are proud to say that “a feeling of warmth and love permeates St Joseph’s” Ofsted 2022 because we’re keen to ensure that “relationships are key … and staff develop very positive relationships with pupils so that they understand what is going on for them and their families…”

About St Joseph's Catholic High School

St. Joseph’s Catholic High School prides itself on being a Catholic, listening and learning school. The students are at the heart of everything we do, and we challenge our staff to: Love the children and let them know that they are loved.

This love is present in the care, support, challenge and curriculum we deliver where we ASK (Attributes, Skills and Knowledge) our children to develop as learners and as people to transform the world by ‘Unlocking Belief in All.’

To support our staff in this mission we:

  • We work hard for the children and we care for each other like a family.
  • We have a behaviour system that lets teachers teach.
  • We treat teachers like surgeons with weekly CPD and training.
  • We have small class sizes and give teachers time to prepare.
  • All teachers are included in our reading and electives programme.

We are inspired by St Joseph, patron Saint of workers and a member of the Holy Family. We aim to create a place where children aren’t just loved but that they know they are loved. It is this ethos that enables our children to become academically successful. Here, all children are developed according to their ability and we make every effort to ensure that we reach out to all regardless of background.

You’ll experience a happy atmosphere at St. Joseph’s in which the dignity and worth of each pupil and member of staff is recognised, developed and safeguarded. Our school is recognised for its atmosphere of welcome where all feel at home in a sense of safety and security. Staff are willing to be present with the pupils in friendship and to go that one step further, where this is necessary, to meet the needs of young people.
