Job overview

Arden is a truly exceptional school at the heart of the community and the peak of academic excellence. Situated just minutes of Junction 5 of the M42 and only three miles from the town of Solihull, visitors are astounded by our confident and articulate pupils. The warmth and trust between teachers and students is exemplary, as is the constant drive to achieve maximum personal and academic potential. As a Teaching School and part of a Multi Academy Trust there is the opportunity for exceptional training and the sharing of knowledge and ideas.

In every way, the Mathematics Department mirrors the aims and beliefs of the school. All staff work hard, supported by a committed management team, to provide a safe and encouraging environment for learning. Arden pupils love to acquire new knowledge and skills; our teachers relish the opportunity to deliver engaging, challenging lessons to committed pupils.

We are looking to appoint an outstanding teacher of Mathematics. The successful candidate will have excellent subject knowledge and be able to motivate students through inspirational teaching. This is an excellent opportunity for a talented teacher to join a thriving school and work with students who are keen to learn. The ability to teach A Level Maths is desirable. Mathematics is an extremely popular subject at A Level with 130 students taking the subject. With enormous pride, we watch a significant number of our students leave to study Maths-related degree subjects at Russell Group universities.

The Mathematics department is a strong team of 14 friendly, professional teachers. ICT resources are good, with all Maths classrooms having interactive capabilities and one room fitted with a class set of computers. The department runs a chess club and a Eureka maths club, and we aim to run as many STEM events where possible across all year groups. We also provide the opportunity for students to enter the Junior, Intermediate and Senior Maths Challenge competitions. We have a dedicated selection of Maths ambassadors who also share their passion and enthusiasm for Maths with others.

The school has a proven record of success at GCSE and A Level.  In summer 2018, 84% of pupils gained A*-C/9-4 grades in five or more subjects with 86% of students also gaining a grade 4 or above in English and Mathematics (62% gaining grade 5 or above). In 2018 the average attainment 8 score was 55.5 with a progress 8 score of 0.28.  29% of GCSE grades awarded were at 7+/A+ and 39% of pupils achieved the English Baccalaureate.  At A Level 99% of pupils achieved A*-E with an average grade per candidate of a B-.

Opportunities don’t arise very often to teach at a school like Arden and we are delighted to be offering the chance for someone to join the department.

Children of staff who are permanently employed at Arden Academy are eligible for a ‘staff’ priority for main school and Sixth Form admissions (please see Admissions on our school website for full details).

In return, we can offer you:
