We are looking to appoint an outstanding teacher of Mathematics. The successful candidate will have excellent subject knowledge and be able to motivate students through inspirational teaching. This is an excellent opportunity for a talented teacher to join a thriving school and work with students who are keen to learn. The ability to teach A Level Maths is desirable. Mathematics is an extremely popular subject at A Level with over 130 students taking the subject. With enormous pride, we watch a significant number of our students leave to study Maths-related degree subjects at Russell Group universities. As a teaching school, this is an excellent opportunity for a newly qualified teacher to join a Trust with an excellent NQT training programme.

The Mathematics department is a strong team of 14 friendly, professional teachers. ICT resources are good, with all Maths classrooms having interactive capabilities and one room fitted with a class set of computers. The department runs a chess club and a Eureka maths club, and we aim to run as many STEM events where possible across all year groups. We also provide the opportunity for students to enter the Junior, Intermediate and Senior Maths Challenge competitions. We have a dedicated selection of Maths ambassadors who also share their passion and enthusiasm for Maths with others.

The school has a proven record of success at GCSE and A Level. In summer 2019, 86% of pupils gained grades 9-4 in five or more subjects with over 87% of students also gaining a grade 4 or above in English and Mathematics (67% gaining grade 5 or above). The average progress 8 score is 0.46 and the attainment 8 score is 58.6. Almost 40% of GCSE the grades awarded were grade 7 and an incredible 7% were grade 9. At A Level, over 97 % of the 2018-19 cohort achieved A*-E with over 25% of the grades at A*A. The Average Points Score per pupil is 34.7, giving an average grade per candidate of a C+.

Children of staff who are permanently employed at Arden Academy are eligible for a ‘staff’ priority for main school and Sixth Form admissions (please see Admissions on our school website for full details).
