Dunottar is a co-educational school for pupils aged 11-18 set in extensive grounds of 15 acres on the outskirts of Reigate. Under the Headship of Mark Tottman, the school is on a very exciting journey having recently won the prestigious Education Business Award for the ‘Outstanding Progress – UK Independent Schools’ category 2019. Dunottar is experiencing fast growth in pupil numbers and to accommodate this expansion, we have recently completed a £6.6 million capital development programme to build a new Sixth Form Centre and Assembly Hall/Performing Arts Centre.

Dunottar is a great place to work, with a team of highly professional and committed teachers and support staff.  We incorporate best practice from independent schools and academies right across the United Learning Group, whilst retaining our unique, friendly ethos in Reigate where pupils are nurtured to make significant personal progress at the same time as achieving excellent academic results.  United Learning is an outstanding organisation which prides itself on providing a working and learning environment which encourages ‘the best in everyone’.  You will join a network of staff belonging to 90 other schools, with opportunities to engage with fellow professionals which far exceed what one school could achieve on its own.  Personal development and career opportunities are excellent. They will also play an active role in the extensive and varied co-curricular program, both during the working week and some weekends.

Overview

Due to a mid-year permanent appointment (and the required notice period in the independent sector), we are looking to appoint a highly motivated and effective Teacher of Mathematics to join an experienced and committed team of subject specialists on a full-time basis for one term from January 2022.

The successful candidate will have outstanding subject knowledge and be an expert in mathematics pedagogy. We are looking for someone with a work ethic that focuses on student outcomes and with a deep commitment to on-going formative assessment.

 The Mathematics Department

The mathematics department is a forward-thinking department which seeks to enthuse the pupils and develop outstanding and innovative teaching.  Pupils are set after the first taught topic in Year 7 and setting continues throughout the school until Year 11.  At GCSE, the Edexcel iGCSE course is followed and mathematics is a popular choice in the Sixth Form, again following the Edexcel specification, with a number of pupils going on to study the subject at university. To further enhance the pupil experience in mathematics, the school takes part in UKMT challenges, team challenges and there is an active mathematics club.

We are a friendly, welcoming and supportive department which achieves excellent results through innovation but also collaboration and a collegiate approach. We work as a team and very much look forward to continue growing as such.

The post offers an exciting challenge for someone with initiative and imagination.  The ability to teach up to A Level would be desirable.  We would welcome applications from newly qualified teachers and experienced teachers alike.

The successful candidate will share our passion for developing the work of the department and sharing good practice. They will also play an active role in the extensive and varied co-curricular program at the School, both during the working week and some weekends.
