Teacher of Mathematics Maternity Cover with potential of permanent position

Mainscale

Start date - September 2018

Tours and a conversation with the Headteacher/Head of Department will be welcomed

St. Gregory’s Catholic High School is the highest performing school in Warrington for pupil progress measures and the most improved High School in the Liverpool Archdiocese.  We are currently ranked in the top 18% of schools nationally for performance.

We are looking to appoint an excellent teacher of Mathematics for an initial maternity cover period of up to 12 months with very realistic potential for this post to become permanent due to the school’s increasing pupil numbers and expansion.

The successful candidate would be working with an effective, dynamic team of subject specialists who strive to provide the best learning experience for pupils through high expectations, inspirational teaching and personalised support.  Achievement in the department is ‘Good’ and GCSE attainment in 2017 was significantly above national in all areas.  The progress 8 score for Maths in 2017 was +0.11.

In Years 7 and 8 pupils follow a Maths curriculum that focuses on skills and content that will prepare them well for the demands of GCSE. Year 9 pupils begin to study the GCSE curriculum, and in Years 10 and 11 pupils study the Edexcel GCSE exam board specification.

The department consists of 7 full-time and 1 part-time teacher of Maths. Maths teaching takes place in 7 Maths classrooms which are well resourced and from September 2018, 2 new Maths classrooms will be housed in our new STEM building.

This is an excellent opportunity for an outstanding and effective practitioner who has the desire to continue to raise standards across the department. The successful candidate will be passionate about Maths and will be personally driven to ensure that every child achieves and makes good progress through challenge and engagement.

Further details and application forms are available from www.stgregoryshigh.com.  Please return completed application forms to the above email address.

This school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.  The successful applicant will be expected to undertake a criminal record check via the DBS.

Closing date:  25th April 2018

Interview:  2nd May 2018

Values and vision

The mission statement of St Gregory’s reads: “This is our God, the servant King. He calls us now to follow him.” The school’s prayer is: “Inspire us to build a community based on love and respect. May we be empowered to challenge injustice every day. Help us to value and support each other to create a positive Learning environment where all may serve. Amen.”

The staff, parents, governors and students of St. Gregory’s Catholic High School aim to work in partnership to create a vibrant community in which all are valued. At the core of school life is a belief that there is no better inspiration than the example and teaching of Jesus Christ.

The school community seeks to set an example of service, inspired by Jesus, and in doing so fulfil the aspirations that it has for each of its pupils, and to foster their spiritual, academic and personal development.
