Job overview

We are passionate about excellence in education, giving students the very best start in life with a firm belief that excellent teaching transforms lives. Our core belief is that for all students to have high aspirations they must believe in themselves, be actively engaged in their learning and see the connection between what they learn today and who they want to become tomorrow.

We wish to add capacity to our talented team of teachers through appointing an excellent Teacher of Mathematics with ambition to both hone their craft and develop others. Each of our teachers plays a key role in driving success for our students.

We are looking for an exceptional individual to play an important role in our unique and growing Academy. The successful candidate will be an excellent teacher of Mathematics and will also play an important pastoral role in leading an Academic Mentoring (Tutor) group.

It will be an exciting opportunity for an NQT or someone wishing to further develop their career, with possible opportunities to become a Specialist Leader of Education (SLE) or Aspirant Lead Practitioner/Lead Practitioner (paid on the Lead Practitioner (Leadership) payscale). Values and vision

As a result of outstanding teaching, an engaging curriculum, personalised pastoral care and excellent extra-curricular opportunities, students at Rivers Academy are better qualified, more confident and articulate than ever before. This is crucial as the competition for post-16 courses, apprenticeships, jobs and university places intensifies annually. Staff enjoy knowing that students leave well prepared for successful future careers with excellent qualifications, high levels of self-esteem, confidence and the skills necessary to thrive in a very competitive world.

Each post-16 student has an academic mentor, with whom they meet daily and who supports them through the undeniable demands and challenges of post-16 study. Around 85% of Year 13 students embark on university courses, many at the highly competitive Russell Group universities.

In September 2015, a Space Studio School for 14- to 18-year-olds, specialising in science and maths, was opened on the Rivers Academy campus.
