Job starts April 2017 and September 2017

Wye School opened in September 2013 with a single intake of Year 7 students. This September we welcomed our fourth year’s intake and are currently preparing our first GCSE cohort for examinations in 2018. This is a comprehensive (all ability) school with a profile of around 85% of students estimated to achieve at least 5A*-C with English and Mathematics, based on entry scores. In June 2015, Ofsted praised our, ‘very vibrant and strong leadership ..clear and aspirational vision,’ and, ‘high level of ambition for the students and the school.’ We are heavily over-subscribed and are only interested in appointing people who actually like young people and the challenges of teaching them

We are now looking to add to our close-knit team of dedicated and dynamic teaching staff. We want to appoint an in-year candidate for April 2017 and another for September 2017, both capable of teaching to at least GCSE. An ability to teach Computing would be of interest but this is not essential. Because we are growing year by year, this post is being advertised in conjunction with a range of other posts across various specialisms and you can see details of these on the website. http://www.wyeschool.org.uk/Staff/Vacancies

The Mathematics department is well-established, with schemes of learning that are assessed by Key Performance Indicators at KS3 and a programme of study built on progression to Edexcel GCSE. We work closely with United Learning Mathematics Lead and our students sit their rigorous standardised tests, created in conjunction with examination boards and taken by all of the academies. Our comparative performance has been excellent. Most classes enjoy nearly 5 hours of mathematics each week and this is supplemented by an excellent electronic homework programme, Hegarty Maths, which allows us to monitor individual and group engagement and reduces marking workload.

We have well equipped classrooms, including interactive whiteboards, iPads and a wide variety of Mathematics manipulatives to aid students' learning and a departmental policy of shared planning and the development of resources. Learners across the ability range engage well with Mathematics at Wye School and are showing excellent progress over time.

We welcome applications from candidates with varying degrees of experience, including NQTs. There is an expectation that all staff, teaching and support, contribute to our extensive programme of enrichment activities, which offers opportunities as diverse as Computing, Crest Award, fencing, allotment tending, Wider World, knitting, golf and Boxercise.

Wye School works closely with Ashford School (Independent School of the Year in 2011), in a model of state-independent school partnership unique to United Learning. We are a small, establishing school and this appointment would give you the exciting opportunity to be at the forefront of developing the curriculum, resources and strategy within your subject area and the wider school.

Applications will be considered on receipt. Suitable candidates will be interviewed on receipt of application and Wye School reserves the right to withdraw the position if an early appointment is made.

Final deadline for Applications: 31st March 2017
