Position: Teacher – Maths and Ad Astra

Netherwood Academy is an 11-16 academy which opened in September 2012, set in an extensive £35 million campus. As part of Astrea Academy Trust, Netherwood Academy is in an exciting period of development.
This position is an exciting prospect for an experienced Teacher of Maths looking to work beyond one school to develop the teaching of Maths. For 80% of the week you will work in the Maths department at Netherwood Academy teaching key groups of exam classes and for 20% of the week you will work as an Ad Astra across the other secondary schools within the Trust. The role of Ad Astra involves working with the National Leader of Maths to develop the teaching and learning in Maths across the Trust. It involves the development of teachers through coaching and team teaching, the development of resources and the sharing of best practice. It is an excellent opportunity to share your expertise across the four secondary Maths departments in South Yorkshire.
In order to fulfil this role, we are looking to appoint an inspirational teacher who has the highest aspirations, passion and expertise to be able to provide the drive that will continue our journey to bring positive change throughout the academy, within this department and across the Trust. You will be an outstanding classroom practitioner and communicator who has the ability to inspire, challenge and motivate to ensure that students and teachers are given the best opportunity to succeed. The role will require a high level of coaching competence and specialist training will be provided to support this.
The Maths department at Netherwood Academy has undergone significant development this academic year. Within the department there has been a full curriculum review with enhanced schemes of learning. This has led to the implementation of a five-year curriculum model. This is an exciting opportunity to work within a forward thinking department building upon the developments made this year in addition to the prospect of working across the trust sharing your expertise.
