The Outwood Grange Family of Schools offers:

• The chance to apply for leadership roles in the Deeps working across the whole Academy. 
• The support and expertise of our Directors working across the Family of Schools. Our Executive Director leads the Yorkshire and Humber Maths Hub. This, as well as her work with the DfE, means OGAT maths is helping to inform and mould the landscape of maths, regionally and nationally.
• A full and detailed programme of support and development for ECTs. 
• A further comprehensive programme of professional development is provided through the Outwood Institute of Education (formerly the teaching school).

Outwood Academy Shafton is located in the village of Shafton near Barnsley, South Yorkshire. It is a mixed school for both girls and boys ages 11-16, the number of students is constantly growing and we have 1365 students currently on role. We are an increasingly popular choice of secondary school for families in the local and wider area and current Y7 intake numbers demonstrate that the school gained over 100 more students than the number leaving in Y11.

The academy was inspected in January 2018 and we were thrilled to announce the judgement of ‘Good’ in every category, with Overall Effectiveness also judged to be ‘Good’. Ofsted praised leadership in the academy stating that ‘Leaders have established a culture of high aspirations. They are relentless in their determination to see every pupil succeed’. In addition to this they noted the high expectations that staff set for students: ‘Standards of behaviour are high due to the rigorous implementation of the school’s code of conduct’ The judgement was a huge accolade for the academy and the community it serves and rightly recognises the transformation in outcomes for young people over the 3 years since joining Outwood Grange Academies Trust.
