The Governors of this over-subscribed Roman Catholic Girls’ School wish to appoint a well-qualified and enthusiastic Teacher of Maths to join a strong department.
The successful candidates should:
- be able to teach Key Stages 3 and 4 & 5.
- be an enthusiastic and effective practitioner, with excellent teaching skills and a willingness to develop their practice further.
- encourage all pupils to have the highest possible aspirations and develop positive attitudes to learning
- enable all pupils to reach the highest standards of which they are capable
- contribute actively to the personalised learning experience and the achievement of all the pupils that you teach or support.
- foster students’ interest in your subject and to promote its contribution to their overall learning experience
- be willing to actively contribute to curriculum development.
- have a genuine belief that every child matters.
We are an innovative and successful mathematics department that has collaborated effectively to design a rich, coherent and stimulating curriculum. Schemes of work incorporate sequences of lessons that have been meticulously planned and developed over time. We strongly believe in pupils developing a conceptual understanding of mathematics. Representations and manipulatives are used wherever possible to support mathematical learning. We are constantly researching new and exciting ways to teach concepts and effective assessment for learning plays an integral role in the planning and delivery of our lessons. We have a dedicated maths block and all classrooms are equipped with SHARP interactive boards. We use promethean technology and embrace using new IT software wherever it can further the learning experience of our pupils. Hegarty maths is successfully used by our pupils as an independent learning resource. Staff wellbeing is paramount. The demands of marking and written feedback are restricted to carefully designed assessments that illuminate pupil misconceptions. We are a supportive and close-knit team that share a genuine interest in the way young people learn mathematics.
There is onsite car parking and the school is in close proximity to public transport (Train, tube and bus routes).
