Salesian School is seeking to appoint an exceptional individual to teach Mathematics. We welcome applications from trainee teachers and experienced colleagues alike, including those looking for positions with additional responsibility. The Mathematics Department at Salesian We are a strong team who pride ourselves on working hard to ensure that every student reaches their full potential and enjoys Maths. Last year our students achieved 94% grade9-4, 85% grade 9-5 and 42% grade 9-7 (including 33 grade9’s) at GCSE and 67% A*-B at A-Level and several went on to study Mathematics at university.  

Our team is made up of colleagues with a broad range of experience from trainee teachers through to those who have taught for over 25 years. The positive energy and enthusiastic approach of our staff makes it a great team of people to work with. You will get a real buzz working here with great people who look after each other like a family.  

The school plays a lead role in both the Teach South East SCITT and school-to-school support and we therefore have opportunities for colleagues at all stages of their career development from NQTs to those seeking positions of responsibility such as Key Stage Leader or Lead Practitioners; mentoring, training, developing others both internally and externally consulting. Appropriate TLRs are available for positions of responsibility; we are especially interested in employing a Key Stage 4 Leader and a Lead Practitioner.  

The Mathematics Department has trained over 30 teachers in the last year and has participated in national research including an exchange with teachers from Shanghai. We have a wealth of experience mentoring and developing teachers, your career would be in safe hands no matter if you were just starting teaching or equally are more experience and looking to take the next step up.  

With the Sixth Form constantly growing at Salesian, there are plenty of opportunities for those who are interested in teaching at Key Stage 5. We have a strong cohort of A-Level Mathematicians and are likely to have almost 200 students studying Mathematics in the Sixth Form next year.

Salesian School is characterised by the philosophy of the Salesian founder St John Bosco (1815-1888). He stressed high educational standards and sound moral and religious education.
