Job overview

Teacher of Mathematics – Maternity Cover Temporary 1 January 2017 – 31 July 2017
Applications from NQTs are welcome for this position

Our students require a mathematics teacher who has the ability to deliver high quality teaching and learning for our students. We are seeking a talented and inspiring teacher to join our small school.  Parkside Community School is a small secondary school that has changed considerably in the last two years. Parents, staff and governors have worked hard together in the best interests of the students at Parkside, to make a great number of improvements.

We enter this new academic year with another record breaking set of GCSE results which places the school well above national averages on a range of measures. In addition, more students than in previous years left Parkside this summer to continue their studies at A level, with a view to attending university. We are determined to provide the best possible education for all students by raising their aspirations.    Our work with parents and carers is focused on creating a ‘passport’ for our children’s future, which will enable them to make informed choices and realistic decisions about their next ‘destination’. It is important that we equip students with the attitude, skills and abilities to cope with a rapidly changing world. The school invests heavily in its extra-curricular programme to enable students to gain the wider experiences and skills to become confident, happy and successful young adults in the future.

The successful candidate is expected to teach at both Key Stage 3 and 4 across the whole ability range. You must possess a track record of successful training or teaching practice, underpinned by a broad base of subject knowledge and teaching and learning strategies. In addition, we are seeking candidates with highly developed communication and organisation skills combined with the ability to engage, enthuse and motivate our students to achieve their potential.    The school will seek to invest in the successful candidate, offering extensive CPD opportunities to secure a permanent position. A CPD plan will be designed to ensure career progression in line with aspirations and personal goals.    If you would like to join a small, improving school, where every person matters, please submit your application by the closing date.

Applicants are encouraged to visit the school prior to the closing date.    Appointment will, of course, be subject to appropriate child safeguarding procedures.  Employment is subject to satisfactory medical and police clearance together with an enhanced DBS check. If you are interested in applying for the post, further information can be obtained by visiting the school website: www.parkside.derbyshire.sch.uk or by contacting the School on 01246 273458.   Applications can be submitted electronically to srussell@parkside.derbyshire.sch.uk or by post to Parkside Community School, Boythorpe Avenue, Boythorpe, Chesterfield S40 2NS.

Please include, in the form of a letter of no more than one side of A4 Arial font size 12 pt, details of how you meet the requirements of the job description and person specification.

Closing date: Noon Thursday 08 December 2016
Interview date: Please enquire at the school
