Knole development centre is the education provision within Cygnet Hospital Godden green, a Tier 4 CAMHS unit.

There are 23 beds for adolescents admitted to the hospital, offering individualised care for young people aged between 12 and 19 who are experiencing a mental health crisis or whose needs mean they cannot be supported in community settings.

The diverse educational programme offered by Knole development centre means that young people can continue their education at the same time as receiving treatment. The safe, educational and therapeutic environment offered by all services provided by the hospital, including the Knole development centre, focuses on helping the young person stabilise so that hospital treatment is no longer required. Teaching at Knole development centre happens within a well-resourced school unit, comprising of 3 separate classrooms.

The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching on a small group basis, designing and implementing a learning programme for each student, establishing coherent academic plans, recording achievement and liaising with other teachers to plan and organise teaching.

High expectations of what students can achieve, effective communications with schools and good quality teaching ensure that students continue to make academic progress during their stay in hospital.

Knole development centre would like to appoint an outstanding qualified teacher of maths, who can inspire and motivate students, effectively personalise learning and contribute to a consistent, positive environment. Providing evidence of student progress is an important element of the role. Additional duties include attending multidisciplinary meetings and progress report writing.
