About the role: Longfield Academy has a great opportunity to appoint a talented and inspiring Teacher of Maths who will join us for January 2022, strengthening our already successful department even further. Our successful candidate will be passionate about their subject, committed to academic excellence and have the ability to motivate, support and enthuse students. Mathematics across the Trust offers the most diverse curriculums in the South East, with the introduction of Maths Mastery of KS3, coupled with regular opportunities for cross-Trust planning at KS4 and KS5. Working at Longfield Academy can offer opportunities for career progression, with relevant CPD available to continue developing alongside students, whereby both have a positive culture of learning. Our Key stage 3 classes are taught using an innovative Maths Mastery method. This is alongside the IB MYP in order to develop a deep and broad Mathematical understanding within our students in preparation for their GCSE studies, which commence in Year 9. We invest heavily so that staff have ongoing access to weekly high-quality professional development and a curriculum focused on developing conceptual understanding. Our curriculum is underpinned by research on task design, variation theory, concept development and raising achievement. Full training will be available to the successful candidate.

Working at Longfield Academy: Longfield Academy is a friendly and supportive working environment with innovation and collaboration at the heart of everything we do. The academy opened in September 2008, replacing Axton Chase School. Since then student outcomes have rapidly improved. In May 2018, we were judged to be 'Good' with an 'Outstanding' Sixth Form provision -  a well-deserved accolade. Our school is heavily oversubscribed in Year 7 and has a large and growing Sixth Form. In recent years, Longfield Academy moved into its brand new £25m building with state of the art facilities for learning across all subject areas.

Being part of Leigh Academies Trust: As of 1st September 2021, our Trust will comprise 31 geographically organised academies (15 secondaries, 14 primaries and 2 special) educating 20,000 students, and employing 2,500 talented staff.
