This thriving and successful Sixth Form College is looking to appoint a Teacher of Maths. The Maths Department is seeking a teacher who possesses the following qualities:
Subject Knowledge (a related degree and/or experience of teaching A level Mathematics)
An understanding of the problems student face in learning mathematics (barriers and misconceptions)
An ability to produce high quality materials and to be part of the department’s ongoing development of independent learning resources.
A collaborative attitude to be able to work with colleagues to improve departmental overall capacity to deliver outstanding lessons, through sharing ideas and supporting each other through peer lesson observation.
A good mathematical communicator, able to present concepts and ideas through innovative practise and careful modelling of solutions.
An awareness of current developments around mastery, mindsets and practical application of mathematical education theory.
The ideal candidate will be expected to teach across our portfolio of qualifications and courses.
Description of the Maths department
The Mathematics department delivers courses in A level Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Statistics as well as Core mathematics and Level 2 GCSE courses. We work strongly as a collaborative team and our focus is on constantly improving our teaching through reflection, self evaluation and exploring evidence informed practise. At present we are developing linearity by seeking to develop our expertise in engaging students with problem solving and improving their independent learning skills in mathematics.
The position will commence on 27 August 2019. The successful candidate will deliver A Level teaching and be expected to provide a quality educational experience for students, actively encouraging social inclusion.
