Job overview

We are looking for an enthusiastic and passionate Teacher of Maths, who is keen to join a close knit team, who actively support each other to ensure that we all thrive, staff and students alike. Burscough Priory students are hardworking, willing, enthusiastic and keen to work with their teachers and support staff to get the very best out of their school days. The team of staff are optimistic and completely committed to the rapid and sustainable improvements currently taking place, firmly rooted in the existing good practice already evident. This is a school that is going places.

For our staff, we are firmly committed to ensuring this is a job that can be enjoyed, where everyone can flourish. We pay close attention to work/life balance and, across the Trust, we are developing strategies that take a common sense approach to those aspects of the role that could become an unnecessary burden on workload such as feedback and marking and centralised detentions. We have a strong, consistent behaviour policy where staff are fully supported in their teaching and students understand the consequences of their actions.

Our Teaching School is central to our Trust and our teachers learn together across the Trust, sharing their practice and encouraging and supporting each other to get the best out of our working day. In our schools we have a relentless focus on excellence, a robust behaviour policy but with the pragmatic emphasis on the balance between challenge and support, high expectation and nurture. And this counts for students and staff, teaching and non-teaching, so that our schools develop a family ethos, where everyone wants the best for everyone else. In our team, therefore, our teachers are committed to continuously improving the classroom experience of our students with a genuine desire to improve the life chances of our young people.

If you think this sounds like a place you would like to develop your career and your love of teaching then you can apply online.

Please complete the online application form which should be submitted by 9am on Friday, 12th March 2021.

As part of the interview you will be asked to prepare a lesson to be taught to a mixed attainment Year 8 group. Interviews will take place at Burscough Priory Academy subject to appropriate health and safety procedures.

Prospective candidates are welcome to contact the school for a conversation with the Director of Faculty or tour prior to the final application.  Please contact Mrs E McCallum, Operations Manager, at emccallum@burscoughprioryacademy.org to organise.

The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff to share this commitment
