Job overview

With effect from 1st May or 1st September 2020, we are seeking a Teacher of Mathematics to join our dedicated and talented team.  This is a full time, permanent role.

The successful candidate will have the ability to teach Maths across the whole age and ability range and, if an experienced teacher, will also have a record of successful KS4 outcomes.  We would also welcome applications from newly qualified teachers.

As a school, we pride ourselves on innovative practice, the well-being of staff and a commitment to the success of all students, both academically and pastorally.  If this sounds like you, we want you to be part of our team.

We are a comprehensive school with improving GCSE results across many subjects.  Our careers support is equally impressive, with the school having recently achieved 100% of leavers in full-time education, training or employment.

To further support the development of the school we are in the process of converting to a Multi-Academy Trust with Hollingworth Academy – an outstanding local secondary school.  This relationship will further strengthen the improvements made and ensure every one of our young people is supported to become the best they can be.

We are committed to professional development for all staff, regardless of role.  We have an innovative staff development programme, which truly empowers teachers to take control of their own professional development.  For those striving for career development, we provide funded places on nationally recognised middle and senior leadership development programmes. Regardless of what point you are at in your career and whatever your aspirations may be, Siddal Moor Sports College can support you to achieve them.

Our excellent facilities complement a committed, hard-working and supportive staff.  We value the well-being of all our staff and we can offer a range of benefits to working at Siddal Moor:

• Designated well-being time (late start or early leave)

• Free use of gym facilities

• Staff activities, including yoga and sport

• Ample parking

• Teachers’ Pension Scheme

• Funded CPD places for nationally recognised qualifications

• Full induction programme and personal coach

To be considered for this post, you must show that you have the qualifications, experience, skills and knowledge as detailed within the essential criteria of the person specification document.

The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.  Appointment to this post is subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring and background check.

The ability to converse at ease with customers and service users and provide advice in accurate spoken English is an essential requirement.

This post closes at 12.00 noon on Friday 24th January 2020 and interviews will take place during the following week.

Ofsted report

“Students say they feel safe and are well supervised in school. Parents and staff agree that students are well cared for. Recently appointed senior leaders are now improving teaching and assessment effectively. The school's assessment of students' progress is now accurate. The checking of students' progress over time is clearly presented so all staff can now see clearly whether students are achieving sufficiently well. The majority of students behave well in and around the school. Students' behaviour has improved over time and they get on well with each other and with adults.”
