The RSA Academy in Tipton (West Midlands) is an oversubscribed and expanding 11-19 school with 1047 students (including Sixth Form). This will rise to 1200 plus sixth form over the next four years. The school has been at the heart of our community since becoming an academy in 2008, and a member of the RSA Family of Academies. The school joined the Central RSA Academies Trust on 1st October 2017.
The Academy was judged to be ‘good’ by Ofsted inspection in July 2016. The school is highly aspirational, boasting fantastic facilities for both students and staff, including a £5 million new build block, to enable expansion that opened in September. Significant changes have been made in the last year to remove barriers to improvement, and the successful candidate will be joining the school at a critical and exciting time to drive things forward.
The successful candidate will be passionate about the teaching of Mathematics and driven to share high quality and innovative practice in the classroom. Our mission is ‘transforming learning, transforming lives’ for a reason. You will need to have a genuine commitment in wanting to make a difference to the lives of our young people; including their self-esteem, aspirations and social wellbeing.
We will also consider a dual role with Progress Lead responsibility. The Progress Lead has a teaching timetable as well as responsibility for pastoral support, progress and behaviour management throughout an assigned year group.
Supported by a Head of Year (non-teaching), the Progress Lead is a key pastoral leadership post within the school with critical importance for securing excellent progress and wellbeing of the students. If you are interested in exploring this further, please express interest on your application.
Applications are welcomes from newly qualified as well as more experienced professionals who possess the necessary drive and commitment to work with our students to contribute to the continued improvement of maths within the Trust. In return there will be clear opportunities for personal and professional development.
