Job overview

Hadley Learning Community (HLC) is a £70 million school that opened in September 2006 in Telford, Shropshire, just 5 minutes off junction 6 of the M54. The campus consists of a primary, secondary and special school housed within a very unique, spectacular all through school.

When you visit, you will instantly feel the ethos of our school but in summary, we are proud to say that HLC is a truly fully inclusive school that is proud of its students and the community we serve.

In our most recent Ofsted, the school was graded as ‘Good with many Outstanding features’ with the highlight being comments on the outstanding care, guidance and support to all of our students. Since 2016, HLC has been positioned in the top 100 schools in the country for progress which is an amazing achievement and one we are so proud of.  The staff and students of HLC take great pride in our school and work harmoniously together to produce a ‘can do’ culture of high expectations.

We are seeking to appoint an innovative and inspiring teacher of Maths to join our forward thinking secondary phase from September. It is a fantastic opportunity to join an established Maths team that has excelled in so many areas. Maths has been a key foundation for our school with outstanding outcomes and a cross curricular drive that supports all aspects of numeracy across our school.

This post is suitable for both experienced and newly qualified teachers and is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic, ambitious and energetic individual. You will have the opportunity to deliver in key stage 3 and 4, ensuring that learning at HLC is exciting and our young people are engaged and motivated to strive for excellence.

The key benefits to working within our school are the relationships with both staff and students that will enthuse you to deliver fantastic lessons each and every day, however, you will also have your own dedicated large teaching room, lap top and appropriate software to support your delivery. You will also have free use of our health and fitness centre, four-court sports hall and 25-metre indoor swimming pool. Importantly, one of our key principles is to support your welfare and as part of this we offer a medical/health package and assist our working families through an on-site nursery which several staff use to support their childcare provision.

We look forward to receiving your application.

Values and vision

Our students will walk through the door of their school, where everyone belongs, with pride. Our children, families and wider community will know that we support them as we are rooted in all aspects of local life.  We believe that our school can only be as strong as the community we serve and, as a result, we know that our school is responsible for providing the foundations for our community to thrive.

Our students will appreciate the importance of their education and respect those within their school environment, and beyond, who strive to nurture each and every one to be the best that they can be.  Our children will recognise the importance of being well-mannered and polite individuals who have the confidence and self-assurance to represent themselves, and their school, with credit.

Our staff will instil a drive and ambition that inspires every child to fulfil their potential.  We will create opportunities for lifelong learning ensuring that their time within our classrooms is only the beginning of their journey.  Our students will be equipped with a love of learning that will provide them with the skills to contribute to their world whether it be locally, nationally or globally.

Our students will be confident in the knowledge that our staff will do everything within their power to ensure they succeed.  Our students will understand that they need to work hard, be resilient and driven in their approach to their studies. We will embrace a ‘can do culture’, which will encourage us to learn from our mistakes and develop an understanding that by supporting each other anything is possible. Our vision is to provide our students with an exciting curriculum and linked opportunities that inspire them to charge at barriers that might stand in their way to fulfilling their goals. We will mould our young peoples’ lives through the arts, sports, STEM and hundreds of other initiatives giving them the tools to flourish.

We will stand by our belief that as a school we can transform a community to understand that education is the most valuable gift anyone can offer you. We will believe in our students and promise to give them the opportunities they dream of. We will shape happy, young people who relish learning in a safe environment.  We will all call our school our own and be proud to be a part of the HLC family.

We will inspire our students to respect themselves, others and the environment in which they belong, allowing them to succeed through the enjoyment of learning.
