An Exciting Opportunity to Join an Outstanding Team!

New College is an outstanding place to work and study, regularly near the top of UK Sixth Form College results tables and awarded outstanding in all areas by Ofsted in 2014. With a dynamic, positive and supportive culture for staff and students, we have an enviable reputation for staff career progression and development. With over 2300 students, New College Pontefract is the founding member of the New Collaborative Learning Trust (NCLT).

We are seeking to appoint a talented teacher of GCSE Maths – the ability to also teach some A Level Maths would be advantageous. This is a maternity cover position in the first instance. The successful candidate will be able to evidence a proven track record of achieving good or outstanding results, though we also welcome applications from NQTs. Able to demonstrate a genuine enthusiasm for your subject area and the ability to engage, motivate and inspire students of all abilities, you should have a commitment to raising achievement, raising aspirations and going the extra mile.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an ambitious candidate to join our dynamic team at the forefront of change and to make a real difference to raising standards of education in the local community. New College Pontefract delivers primarily A Level provision, alongside a number of Level 3 BTEC qualifications and some Level 2 provision.

If you believe that you have the skills and abilities to take on this role, we’d love to hear from you.

New College Pontefract is an outstanding college, regularly near the top of the UK Sixth Form College results tables and awarded outstanding in all areas by Ofsted in 2014.   Our A Level and BTEC Value Added places us in the top 10% of providers nationally and the large majority of our Advanced Level students proceed to higher education at over 60 different universities, including Oxford and Cambridge. We also provide a small range of Level 2 provision for students wanting to improve their results at that level.

Over the last few years we have invested heavily in new, state-of-the-art teaching blocks and student facilities .  We provide a wide range of extra-curricular activities, including sports and college production; we want New College to be a vibrant community that students and staff will be keen to join.

The college is outward facing and believes strongly in collaboration, being the lead partner in our teaching school, collaborating with over 30 schools and colleges.  The teaching school creates opportunities for staff to  access a range of CPD, to deliver on CPD events and to support colleagues and departments in other schools/colleges.

Whilst we are unapologetically driven to achieve the best possible outcomes for students, we also operate a very supportive environment in which we give every member of the team the help they need to flourish as an outstanding member of staff.  Having been awarded Leaders in Diversity and Investors in People Gold status, we have been recognised for our ongoing dedication to our people management practices, investing in the development and performance of our staff and creating an inclusive environment in which diversity is celebrated.

As an employer, we strongly believe in recognising and rewarding outstanding performance in all our staff and have an excellent reward and recognition scheme in place which includes financial bonuses and lieu days.

There is a warm and friendly atmosphere that exists throughout the college making it an exciting and enjoyable place to study and work.  We have lots of great benefits to offer staff and we always have plenty going on, whether it be our annual Well-being Day, Christmas party , coffee mornings or social gatherings.

Why not consider joining an outstanding team!
