Job overview

About the College

Worthing College is a very popular college with over 1450 students.  Our recent Ofsted inspection judged us to be ‘Good’ in every respect.   Our mission is to inspire, build confidence and prepare our students to live the life they want to live and is underpinned by our strong desire to become outstanding in the near future.   Above all Worthing College is a very friendly place with a strong sense of purpose, where teaching, learning and student success are second to none.

Background to the post

The mathematics department offers Functional Skills, Number and Measure, GCSE and A levels in Maths, Statistics, Further Maths and Computer Science.  We currently have a team of seven staff (one computer science teacher and six maths teachers).  The maths team members work very closely together, share resources and constantly support each other to improve subject and curriculum knowledge.  The successful applicant would be expected to work as an enthusiastic and flexible team member.  Worthing College STEM Academy launched in October 2017 and the science and maths teams work together to offer many enrichment activities for students studying STEM subjects and also organise activities for local schools.

The successful candidate would be expected to teach both resit GCSE maths and A level maths or statistics.  Experience of teaching both GCSE and A level would be preferable but this post would also be suitable for someone looking for their first role teaching A level in a college.  Such a candidate would be expected to have experience of teaching the new GCSE and also have strong A level mathematics knowledge and the ability to quickly learn the A level maths curriculum.  Knowledge of the A level Statistics qualification (or an enthusiasm to learn) would be particularly desirable.
