Steyning Grammar School is a unique comprehensive school, with 2250 students on roll (425+ are in the Sixth Form College), set in the beautiful South Downs countryside.  The campus spreads across three sites: Shooting Field, Steyning (KS4-5), Church Street, Steyning (KS3) and Rock Road, Storrington (KS3). We are a day and residential school, with a boarding provision based at the Church Street campus and a thriving Sixth Form College based at the Shooting Field campus. 

We have embedded traditions of excellence in academic progress and the development of learning character in every student. These outcomes are due to high quality teaching and learning, supported by a deep and well planned CPD offer. We are proud to be a Teaching School and are a founding school of the Pavilion and Downs Teaching School Alliance. This collaboration demonstrates our commitment to staff development - whether you are at the beginning of your career or developing your teaching and leadership pathways. 

We are proud to be revolutionary in our approaches; these range from a focus on KS3 Mastery through mixed attainment teaching, to the teaching of Learning Character or the determined spotlight on progress rather than attainment. 

Our staff are impressive and inspirational practitioners and leaders, with a strong team ethic. Many travel into school from Brighton and Hove and surrounding towns, with a culture of informal car-shares where needed. 

Our students are fantastic – polite, confident and eager to learn, preparing for their exciting futures. Ofsted (March 2017) rated our school ‘Good with Outstanding features’; quoting us as having “an aspirational culture” where “teachers have high expectations and design stimulating lessons”.

Please note we will be interviewing for the post on Wednesday 10th March 2021. Our intension is for interviews to be held on site in line with the Government reopening of schools on the 8th March 2021.  If circumstances change we will be interviewing virtually.

We are very proud of our school but due to Covid 19 we cannot offer any school visits, however we welcome any questions to share our vision and practice.
