Peter Symonds is located in Winchester. It is a vibrant sixth form college which has been rated by Ofsted as ‘outstanding’ in every respect. Our unofficial College motto has long been ‘Counting in Ones’ and we work hard to make this a supportive and friendly place to study, with every student treated as an individual. Not only is this at the heart of our work with our students, but we also strive to support and value our staff in the same way.
We have a vacancy for a Teacher of Mathematics to work part-time for a maximum of 18 sessions a week (0.6923 FTE). We are flexible as to the number of hours and are open to sharing the work between two candidates. Our thriving Maths department has a dedicated staff of nearly thirty teachers, including a Deputy and subject leaders to support the Head of Subject. As well as AS and A2 Maths, the team teaches Further Maths, Use of Maths and GCSE, achieving very high success rates.
You will be a graduate of Maths or of a closely allied subject, familiar with contemporary issues in the teaching of Maths and able to share your enthusiasm for the subject with your students. You will be a reflective teacher, committed to excellence in teaching and learning. A strong team player, you will be keen to make your contribution to the further development of this growing department. We welcome applications from both newly qualified and experienced teachers.
Due to the limited time available, we will start to look at applications as soon as they come in. Therefore, although we are required to show a closing date, we may interview and appoint before this date so please apply as soon as possible.
Closing date: 30 November 2017
