Teacher of MFL (French and some Spanish)

MPS/UPS

Required for September 2023 (or optional July start for an ECT)

Judged ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted in 2010 and with a successful Section 8 inspection in February 2020, Yardleys is a thriving, vibrant and heavily oversubscribed 11-16 multi-ethnic academy in Birmingham, with 940 students on roll. The diversity of the school population reflects the rich, cultural mix of the local area.

The school is highly focused on raising standards of pupil achievement through a broad and balanced curriculum and students make excellent progress from their starting points.

The school motto “Working together for a better future” is far more than just words. The collaborative ethos which permeates the school is at the heart of our success. Excellent student behaviour and an extremely well organised school provide the foundation for teachers to focus on delivering outstanding lessons and continuously improving their practice.

The MFL department is well-established and staffed by subject specialists. Languages are given a very high profile in the school and benefit from a range of enrichment activities, including visits to France and Spain and a range of language events. We wish to appoint an enthusiastic and dynamic teacher to join this forward-thinking department and support our important work in developing our students to be enthusiastic language learners. The successful candidate will join this supportive and motivated team, who are committed to ensuring that our pupils continue to make excellent progress. All teachers benefit from a collaborative approach with regular weekly meetings where subject-specific training is provided. Our CPD programme is progressive, dynamic and research informed, providing teachers with a genuine opportunity to develop their subject pedagogy.

We would welcome applications from ECTs or those with more experience. ECTs will be offered the option of starting in July.

Yardleys offers a commitment to professional development opportunities, a keen eye on staff workload, an excellent induction programme, a healthcare package, state of the art facilities and well-behaved students who are keen to learn.
