The Hurlingham Academy is a mixed secondary academy based in Fulham, West London. It is located adjunct to South Park and within a stone’s throw of the River Thames. It is a small but growing academy that is improving year upon year under the new, young leadership team that was created in 2015.

You will work with a diverse community who have high expectations and aspirations for their children, who expect the best and who want to succeed. You will therefore have the characteristics that will drive this appetite for success within our students and you will lead by example.

The Academy has cultivated a friendly and welcoming environment for all of its staff, that is why we have one of the lowest absence rates in the whole of the group. The teachers feel empowered, the support staff feel recognised and we all want to be here! Here is the opportunity for you to join one of the ever increasing success stories of United Learning and to be part of the incredible journey that The Hurlingham Academy has set upon.

The role

We wish to appoint an innovative and dynamic Teacher of MFL (Spanish and French) who is able to teach at KS3 to KS5. Both NQTs and teachers that are more experienced are welcome to apply. The work is varied, rewarding and an exciting opportunity to help in the delivery of education to young people.

About You

The successful candidate will need to have QTS and a good honours degree in the relevant subject area.

Keeping your subject exciting, relevant and enjoyable, you'll create an ambitious, innovative and motivating classroom. You'll inspire and challenge your students so that they develop into highly effective, independent learners and achieve their individual potential.

You will be an inspirational practitioner with great curriculum knowledge and pedagogical practice. You will be a pro-active, flexible and enthusiastic professional with the innovation and commitment to teach MFL.

The successful candidate will need to be able to work independently as well as part of a team. You will need to be able to work under pressure, have excellent communications skills, and be computer literate.

You will be enthusiastic about working within a school environment, and supporting the needs of the Academy.

A commitment to developing weekly extra-curricular activities for students is also required.

United Learning

The Hurlingham Academy is part of United Learning, a large, and growing, group of schools aiming to offer a life changing education to children and young people across England.

Our schools work as a team and achieve more by sharing than any single school could. Our subject specialists, our Group-wide intranet, our own curriculum and our online learning portal all help us share knowledge and resource, helping to simplify work processes and manage workloads for an improved work-life balance.

As a Group, we can reward our staff better: with good career opportunities, better pay, benefits, and ultimately, the satisfaction of helping children to succeed. We invest in our staff wellbeing. Our academies each have at least eight INSET days per year (with three of those solely dedicated to planning), and an ongoing group-wide wellbeing programme. It's an ethos we call ‘the best in everyone’.
