A well-qualified, motivated and enthusiastic Teacher of Languages (German/Spanish/French) is required for September 2023, for a permanent contract. 

The Modern Foreign Languages Department at George Abbot is successful, committed and forward looking, comprising of three departments; German, French and Spanish. The Department is currently made up of 7 members of staff and is a hub of teaching excellence within the school. We pride ourselves at being able to engage and inspire a love of languages and culture in our students, as well as build their cultural competency. As a strong team, our aim is to build confidence and mastery in every student and to support all students to become proficient communicators.

Experience of teaching a second language would be desirable, whilst experience of teaching A Level is also an advantage.  

Ofsted said “pupils happily attend George Abbot School. They respect their teachers and behave well in lessons. Pupils take their studying seriously and try to get the most out of their experiences at school. Teachers expect a lot from pupils” (December 2019).

We are an 11-18, mixed comprehensive, with an established reputation for high academic standards and exemplary pastoral care. Within easy reach of the town, the A3 and London Road railway station, we are an innovative school with strong progress outcomes at both GCSE and A Level.

George Abbot School is a forward thinking academy providing an inclusive education, for around 2,000 young people, aged 11-18. We are located in Burpham, Guildford with good transport links to the surrounding area.
