 OUR SCHOOL ….

Werneth School is an 11-16 comprehensive school in Stockport with over 1000 students of all abilities.  Housed in a purpose-built new building (opened November 2017) with new resources and interactive boards in every classroom, the school has been through a rapid period of change.  Student numbers are increasing year-on-year and academic performance is improving.   The school benefits from an exciting partnership with both the Manchester United Foundation and Adidas to raise aspiration in our students.

Werneth School is a secondary school for girls and boys between the ages of 11 and 16. It is a community school based in the town of Romiley, in Stockport, Cheshire. It is a non-denominational establishment. Werneth is served primarily by nine feeder primary schools. At present, there are around 1,029 students enrolled at the school.

Werneth School values pupils who have excellent attendance, who are well behaved and those who work hard to achieve their goals. The school aims to get to know each individual child and teachers should nurture and support them. The curriculum is one that meets the needs of all the students attending the school. The goal is for teachers to encourage every student to be positive about their futures. The school experience should be fun but it should also push them to become life-long learners. The aim is to help the students develop important life skills, this includes being independent, resilient and have respect for others.

“Students achieve well. Attainment has risen rapidly and securely since the previous inspection. So too has the progress students make given their starting points. Students achieve well because teaching is usually good with some that is outstanding. A minority of teaching requires improvement. Most teaching is well planned, lively and challenging. Students enjoy learning and have positive attitudes towards school. They behave well and are respectful and courteous. They feel safe and are cared for well. Attendance has improved significantly. Leaders and managers, including the governing body, drive the school strongly and purposefully forward. They are at the root of the rapid and sustained improvements that have taken place.”
