Job overview

Avez-vous déjà envisagé de vivre et de travailler à Guernesey dans les îles Anglo-Normandes?

Are you a teacher with passion, flair and creativity and want to make a difference to the children you teach?

We are looking for an outstanding specialist French teacher to join a small, but highly committed team of specialists who are passionate about languages and developing our learners into confident linguists. The possibility of delivering German would be helpful but not essential to the role.

In Guernsey, we can offer you a great work-life balance with our own unique curriculum framework which aims to promote positive mental health and wellbeing with an emphasis on outdoor learning where creativity, teamwork, critical thinking and independence is encouraged with the Bailiwick’s children and young people at its very heart.

This is an opportunity to take control of your teaching mixed with a happy work-life balance and the chance to live on an island that has beautiful beaches, cliff walks, lots of outdoor activity options and island hopping trips is unrivalled.

We offer excellent relocation packages such as a five year permit as well as other enhanced benefits for housing and rental support, participation in our pension schemes and competitive pay above the UK median. Identified pathways for training and continuing professional development are strongly supportive to provide you with a rewarding career.

Values and vision

Les Beaucamps High School’s school motto is “learn, believe, honour, succeed”. At the school, it is believed school should be the foundation of opportunity and success in later life and that all areas of school life should promote a culture of high aspiration, ambition and success. The school has stressed that it recognises that the best intervention a child can ever receive is consistently high quality teaching. It is thought that the school curriculum should be personalised to the needs of students, offering them a rich and broad foundation from which to progress to Post-16 education, Higher Education and the world of work. There is also a commitment at the school to offering a diverse and varied extra-curricular programme to provide pupils with opportunities to learn vital life skills beyond the classroom. Les Beaucamps High School intends for its pastoral care and support to be focused on removing barriers to learning to ensure that, no matter what a child’s background or personal difficulties, all pupils are able and ready to learn. The school is keen to affirm that it has high standards of its students at all times and wishes for them to display mutual respect towards each other. Importance is also placed on there being a strong partnership between students’ parents and the school.
