Founded in 1903, the school has existed on its current site since 1966, converting to academy status in 2012. The school maintains a close relationship with the local girls’ grammar school, Parkstone Grammar, with a small amount of shared lessons occurring between the two of them. Poole Grammar School has around 1200 pupils, 300 of whom reside in the school’s sixth form, making it larger than the average secondary school.
