Saltus has the following opportunity available commencing in September 2019 

The successful  candidate will teach Modern Foreign Languages, specifically French and Spanish, to Middle School level. 

Candidates for the above position:

• Must be a qualified teacher with a minimum of three years’ classroom teaching experience at the Middle School level.

• Must be licensed by, or qualified to be licensed by, the Bermuda Educators Council.

• Must have proven ability/success in the delivery of their subject in a differentiated classroom within the Middle School setting. 

• Must be able to demonstrate a variety of teaching and learning pedagogies, including but not limited to problem-based, project-based and discussion-based learning (e.g. Harkness/Socratic, experiential education, direct instruction).

• Must be able to demonstrate a variety of assessment and evaluation methodologies conducive to 21st Century Learning in a differentiated learning environment.

• Demonstrated ability and experience using a variety of technologies to enhance learning in the classroom. 

• Must be able to use an online grading system and be willing to create and update schemes of work and resources.

• Demonstrated ability and experience using a variety of assessment and evaluation methodologies conducive to an inquiry based programme, including student led conferences and the use of an online reporting system.

• Demonstrated understanding of, and a commitment to, the principles of independent education, the Mission, Vision and Strategic Vision of Saltus.

• Willing to contribute to extracurricular activities and be an active participant in the broader life of the School.

• Committed to academic excellence and strive for positive relations with all students, parents and colleagues alike. 

• Must demonstrate flexibility and adaptability to change.

• Willingness to complete other duties as required including but not limited to, cover, student supervision and full participation in professional learning opportunities.

• Proven ability to work in an ever evolving and fast paced environment.

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written) and an ability to collaborate with team members to develop and deliver a curriculum which is student-centered and inquiry-based.

• Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and tact.

• Demonstrated ability in being an action researcher and reflective practitioner.

• Sense of humor.

• Clean criminal record.
