About Gosport & Fareham Multi-Academy Trust

TO BE GREATER AND TO ASPIRE FURTHER

Gosport & Fareham Multi-Academy Trust (GFM) comprises 5 schools (Bay House Academy, Gomer Junior School, LWS Academy, Brune Park School and Rowner Junior School).

As a “local MAT” we are committed to improving education provision and opportunities in Gosport and Fareham.

We look after the educational needs of students from ages 6 to 19. This wealth of expertise across our phases and sites provides us with many opportunities to improve and become the best education provider we can be for all local young people.

The GFM aims to enable a local solution to the challenges we face together in providing the best education provision in the area, we have adopted a philosophy of collaboration in order to achieve a locally-led self-improving network of schools by sharing the responsibility for all learners and for their families.

Our mission:

‘It is our moral accountability to all our learners to raise achievement, close gaps, support wellbeing and develop the range of learning capacities through a principled curriculum which is a sum of all the learners’ experiences. These collective experiences will ensure the sustained growth of an effective ‘Learner Voice’ which encourages contributions from the diversity of our learner population and community that has significant impact and influence on our School.’

In the GFM we recognise that it is through our collective endeavour that we can make a difference, with Gosport and Fareham learners’ achievement being greater and them aspiring further. The local commitment to this initiative is overwhelming; schools and communities see this as an opportunity for a group of schools to become greater than the sum of their parts.

We have been relentless in our drive to ensure we are fully staffed with colleagues passionate to understand how to release and enable a young person to engage with and enjoy their learning. We are working hard to ensure all our staff are highly skilled in understanding learners’ needs including the wide range of behaviours and strategies that enable us to maximise outcomes for our young people.

What does this mean in practice?

It means we take our responsibilities to our learners and their parents very seriously, and work together:

  • To ensure every learner achieves to their very best
  • So no learner is left behind at any stage
  • Doing all we can to make sure every learner has quality learning experiences in and beyond the classroom and that we look after their well being

In partnerships to ensure our school community is the best it can be.

How do we measure our success?

By looking at every learner’s achievement and progress:

  • GCSE results
  • progress made in every subject across different stages of the year
  • how our pupil’s achievement compares to others across the country
  • how well our tutor time supports pupil’s achievement and well being

By looking at the quality of teaching and learning, specifically:

  • how we are developing pupil’s independent learning
  • how well we feedback to our pupils so they know how to improve
  • how good every learning experience is

By looking at how well we use evidence to plan appropriate interventions, use these interventions and then see how successful they are on individuals or groups of learners.

We also look at how we are constantly developing our teachers and support staff in meeting these goals.

Our schools are located in Gosport in the south east county of Hampshire. Gosport is an increasingly popular coastal destination with a strong naval heritage. Gosport benefits from being a stone’s throw from Portsmouth and its many amenities and has excellent transport links.

As well as an abundance of picturesque coastal walks and nature reserves on the doorstep, Gosport is home to two parks and accessible to a scenic beach, perfect for outdoors types, runners, cyclists, water sports enthusiasts or families looking for a taste of the great outdoors.

GFM Education pursues a policy of equality of opportunity. We particularly welcome applications from underrepresented groups.
