We have an exciting and rewarding opportunity to work as a Music Teacher for one day a week at Stamford Welland Academy. You will be part of a friendly and supportive team working with our fantastic children in our secondary school, close to the heart of the beautiful town of Stamford. This is a busy and varied role and your duties will include supporting children with a range of needs.

The Music Department aims to encourage creativity at all stages of musical development. We endeavour to provide a platform for students of all abilities, who have a keen interest in expanding their musical experiences through performance, composition, theory, listening and music technology.

In Year 7 and beyond, students are inspired to experiment with music while developing individual, paired and group performances, by also applying creativity and freedom of expression to compose music of a variety of styles.

KS4 Music:

BTEC Tech Award — Level 1/2 — Music Practice is available to students at Stamford Welland Academy. This course is open to all students with a love of music, who enjoy performing, composing and developing an understanding of various styles of music, have inquisitive minds and a need to be creative. 

Whether our learners are aspiring performers, composers, entrepreneurs or a combination of all of these—this course gives them the opportunity to apply their creativity in a practically-focused setting.

Stamford Welland Academy joined the Meridian family of schools in 2014. In September 2021 we were inspected by Ofsted  and judged to be ‘Good’ overall where ‘Leaders have high ambitions for what pupils can achieve’.

Stamford Welland Academy is a mainstream, co-educational, non-denominational, non-selective secondary school for children aged 11-16. It is situated in Stamford, Lincolnshire, and has 600 pupils on its roll.

Stamford Welland Academy is the only state secondary school in Stamford and it is sponsored by Meridian Trust.

Ofsted report

At our latest Ofsted inspection, we were judged as ‘Good’ in all areas. The report published in September 2021 heaped praise on our leadership team and followed our impressive Key Stage 4 results which were also the best results the school has ever recorded.

The inspectors said: “Leaders have done much to improve the school, including the quality of education. They have set high expectations of pupils’ behaviour and attitudes to learning. They have strengthened relationships with the local community. These improvements have led to more parents wanting to send their children here.

“Pupils study a broad range of subjects. In key stage 4, they are encouraged to study subjects that leaders believe will help pupils in the future. As a result, there has been a large increase in the number of pupils who study languages. Leaders make ambitious decisions about the curriculum which are in the best interests of the pupils. For example, they have changed how pupils study the different subjects in Years 7 and 8 to address previous underachievement at the end of key stage 4.”
