The Role

The Corsham School Academy Group seeks to appoint an enthusiastic and motivated Teacher of Music and Music Technology to join a department with an excellent reputation for academic and performance music. This is an exciting opportunity for an exceptional experienced or newly qualified teacher to make a significant contribution to the school. The successful applicant will be able to teach music and music technology across all key stages and should be willing to make a significant contribution to the extensive programme of extra-curricular music on offer.

The Music Department

We aim to deliver high quality practical lessons to students across key stages 3, 4 and 5. There is a focus on both music performance and music technology for all students. We follow the RSL Level 2 Certificate in Music Performance & Music Technology for KS4 students and Level 3 BTEC in Music Technology for KS5. We provide a variety of extra-curricular groups such as: Flute & Clarinet Group, Jazz Group, Choir and Saxophone Group. Our pupils also use practice rooms and classrooms to rehearse in bands at lunch and after school. We have a varied programme of concerts each year that includes Christmas, spring and summer performances. Our Music, Drama and Dance Departments come together to put on an annual school production which is a real highlight of the academic year. Recently we have produced Bugsy Malone (2017), Oliver (2018) and our current production Little Shop of Horrors is due to happen in July 2019.

The department consists of two music classrooms which are both resourced with keyboards, piano, drum kit and a set of thirty iPads that use a variety of music and education apps. We also have a set of Mac computers with Logic Pro X software and iRig keyboards as well as other specific music technology equipment for our KS4/5 students to use. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to visit Real World Studios with our KS5 students who are studying the Level 3 BTEC course. There are three practice rooms that our peripatetic staff use for 1-1 instrumental lessons and these are available for students to use as well. Our resources also include a set of African drums, double basses, guitars, cello, violin and several small percussion instruments.
