Job overview
We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and talented individual who will inspire and challenge young people to enable them to develop into highly effective independent learners and achieve their potential as individuals.
The successful candidate will be able to teach Music across the age and ability range at KS3, 4 and to teach Sixth Form students to Oxbridge entry level (the department offers an A-level in Music Technology.)
Keswick School is an oversubscribed 11-18 mixed academy offering state boarding. We are a National Teaching School and lead the Western Lakes Teaching School Alliance. In our most recent Ofsted inspection we were rated outstanding under every category.

About Keswick School
Keswick School, based in Cumbria, is a secondary coeducational school for children between the ages of 11 and 18. It has been converted to academy status. It has around 1,231 pupils enrolled currently at the school. Around 200 of these are in sixth form. It is both a day and boarding school.

Values and Vision
Keswick School values cooperation within the community. It encourages parents to be active in the children’s school life by joining the PTA. The school’s motto is “Levavi oculos”. The academy wants every pupil to have academic achievement. It also wants each child to become independent, long-life learners. Every pupil should aim to reach their goals by working hard. The school offers extra-curricular activities. These clubs range from astronomy, rock climbing, journalism and horse riding.

“The excellent leadership of the headteacher, first-rate teaching, students’ excellent attitudes to learning and knowledgeable governance all combine to make Keswick School outstanding. Students make rapid progress. The sixth form is outstanding. A well above average proportion of students achieve the highest A Level grades and successfully find jobs or win places at the university of their choice. Teachers are highly knowledgeable and have tremendous enthusiasm for their subjects. Their high expectations and use of varied and interesting resources ensure students are challenged to achieve their best while really enjoying learning. In a few lessons students’ progress, although still good, is not quite as rapid because teachers’ questioning does not always challenge them to think deeply.”
