King George V School is an inclusive Y7-Y13 Secondary School in Homantin, Kowloon with 1800 students from many different nationalities. The school is part of the English Schools Foundation. KGV is part of the English Schools Foundation (ESF), the largest provider of English-medium international education in Hong Kong. Our school delivers the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) in years 7 to 9, the (I)GCSE in years 10 and 11, after which our students progress to study either the IB Diploma Program or the more vocationally oriented BTEC applied learning program in years 12 and 13.

The position will be a full-time one year finite contract from August 2020 to August 2021, with the possibility of extension and conversation to the standard two year finite contract. See ESF Terms and Condition  for further details of the package.

Requirements

• Bachelor Degree Music, plus a recognised Postgraduate teaching qualification, or equivalent;

• Teaching experience within a recognised educational organisation;

• Teaching experience and capacity in Music in IB MYP, (I)GCSE and IB DP is preferable;

• Specialist skills/experience in the following areas would also be an advantage: Music Technology and Composition, Choral Specialist and Competent Pianist.

• Ability and willingness to deliver concept-based lessons to provide an exciting and challenging Middle Years Programme is an advantage;

• Experience and ability to use data on student learning to modify curriculum, teaching and assessment provision;

• Ability to contribute strongly to the Music Department Professional Learning Teams collaboration which is focused on improving student learning;

• Effective interpersonal skills and ability to form positive relationships with students, staff and parents;

• Ability to lead and/or strongly support extra-curricular activities as part of the school performing arts program
