First opened in 1971, Auchenharvie Academy is a co-educational six-year secondary school located in North Ayrshire, Scotland. With around 700 pupils, Auchenharvie Academy is slightly smaller than the average secondary school of its type. The school primarily draws its intake of students from five local primaries.

Auchenharvie Academy also works hard to encourage the strong personal development of its pupils, including their emotional and social intelligence, in order to ensure their success when they do choose to leave school.

“Almost all young people are motivated to learn and behave well in class. They are keen to answer their teachers’ questions and enjoy working in lessons. Young people respond particularly well when they are engaged actively in their learning, including when they participate in volunteering activities and in the wider community. Young people are encouraged to take responsibility for their learning, for example through investigations and research topics.”
