Teacher of Music
Full or Part Time
M1 - UPS3: £31,650 - £49,084
Start Date - 1st September 2025
The Kimberley School is a rewarding and exciting place to work. Our aim is for every child to achieve or surpass their academic and social potential and we achieve this through providing an outstanding quality of education, underpinned by a strong programme of care, guidance, support and enrichment.
You will be joining a strong team of professionals who focus relentlessly on ensuring that students enjoy learning and make outstanding progress. You will be part of Arts Faculty who have a superb track-record in securing excellent student progress, as well as offering a wonderful range of extra-curricular opportunities, and are well placed to go from strength to strength for many years to come. This will be an opportunity for you to join an outstanding, high performing team and learn from the very best.
Students in Key Stage 3 study Music for one hour a week throughout the year. Students can choose to study GCSE Music at Key Stage 4 and in recent years we have seen a significant increase in the number of students doing so. We also offer A-Level Music at Key Stage 5. The department enjoys its own specialist teaching facilities and practice rooms.
We are looking for someone who can teach all aspects of the Music Curriculum at Key Stage 3 and GCSE. There may also be the opportunity for the successful candidate to teach A-Level. This post is suitable for Early Career Teachers - as a lead partner in the East Midlands Teacher Training Partnership, and an early adopter of the Early Career Framework, we are well placed to support teachers at the start of their career. We will also consider applications from experienced or Early Career Teachers who would like to work on a part-time contract (0.6 or above).
A key element of the role of the successful candidate will be to work with the Music Subject Performance Leader to put in place and lead on a wide range of extra-curricular Music opportunities across the school. Our students benefit from these opportunities to learn an instrument and perform in front of a variety of audiences and the successful candidate will be given sufficient time to run these opportunities. If you want to offer our students the chance to experience the joy of learning an instrument and performance, then this is the post for you.
If you have a passion for teaching Music, then we want to hear from you. As part of East Midlands Education Trust there will also be the opportunity for continued professional development to prepare you for future stages of your career.
Applications must be made on an EMET application form which you can download from the East Midlands Education Trust website https://www.emet.uk.com/vacancies
On the application form, please focus on a detailed 'supporting statement' taking into account the person specification and indicating why you would be the best person for us to recruit to this position.
If you have any questions or would like an informal discussion about the post or a tour of the school, please contact Wendy Bellamy our Leadership Support Team Leader via 0115 9387000 or hr@kimberleyschool.co.uk
The successful candidate will have to meet the requirements of the person specification in order to be offered the post, will be required to undergo a full enhanced DBS check and must be eligible to work in the UK. The Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Safeguarding checks will be undertaken during the recruitment process and this may include online searches.
We welcome applications regardless of age, gender, ethnicity or religion.
The closing date for applications is 9am on Friday 7th March 2025.
Interview date to be confirmed

Values and vision
The Kimberley School focuses on delivering strong academic results. It is a tolerant and welcoming place of learning that promotes traditional values, a sense of belonging and good student behaviour.
There have been a number of developments for school facilities over the years, most notably the introduction of a design and technology building in 2002, and an arts block with drama studio and media studies room in 2005. There are also high-quality facilities for sport, with playing fields, hockey pitches and a large leisure centre on-site.
Ofsted report
“Governors have a good understanding of the school’s performance and they drive improvement by challenging leaders strongly. The quality of teaching is improving because leaders have introduced good strategies to support it. Reading is being promoted well throughout the school [and] students feel safe in school.”
