Job overview

Wellfield High School is a close-knit community school where we strive to get the balance right between support and challenge, so that every individual student achieves their personal best. We are currently enjoying an exciting new phase at the school and we are now seeking a teacher of Music who is interested in joining our team. The development of the Performing Arts at Wellfield is a high priority, and we are looking for an enthusiastic and committed colleague to inspire our students, both in the classroom and through extracurricular clubs and events.

• Are you passionate about helping young people make progress?

• Do you have high aspirations which will help you inspire and motivate our students to believe they can be what they want to be, helping them to increase their self-esteem?

• Can you engage students with a positive mindset, empowering them to take on challenges and activities?

If so, why not become part of our new and exciting future at Wellfield High School? We work in an executive partnership with Endeavour Learning Trust, which is providing opportunities for both our staff and students to make rapid progress, transforming our school.

For our staff, we are firmly committed to ensuring this is a job that can be enjoyed, where everyone can flourish. We pay close attention to work/life balance and, across the trust, we are developing strategies that take a commonsense approach to those aspects of the role that could become an unnecessary burden on workload, such as feedback, marking and centralised detentions. We have a strong, consistent behaviour policy where staff are fully supported in their teaching, and students understand the consequences of their actions.

Our Trust CPD network and curriculum development enables our teachers to learn together, sharing their practice and encouraging and supporting each other to get the best out of our working day. The successful candidate will have opportunities to work with other colleagues across the Trust to support and develop the teaching of Music with our family of schools.

As part of the interview process candidates will be required to teach a sample lesson.

Candidates should ensure that they and their referees are easily contactable, with the correct phone number and email address and able to reply promptly if references are requested.

We encourage prospective candidates to contact the school for a tour prior to their final application, please contact vacancies@whs.lancs.sch.uk  or phone the school, 01772 421303 to arrange.

Please complete the online application form which should be submitted by 9am on Monday 17th May

Interviews Thursday 20th May

The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff to share this commitment.
