We are looking for a creative, passionate, innovative and outstanding Teacher of Music to join our growing department. This position offers an exciting opportunity to join a collaborative, friendly and supportive department.

The department believes in fostering the lifelong love of music, providing all pupils with a high-quality music education which engages and inspires children to be passionate about music, to increase their self-confidence, creativity, and imagination, and provide opportunities for self-expression and a sense of personal achievement.

Music is delivered throughout the curriculum at KS3 along with an offer at KS4 that we would like to grow by integrating music technology. A key priority for the successful applicant will be to support a new Music curriculum across both key stages that enthuses and engages students and also incorporates drama through the Music curriculum. The department has dedicated classrooms, access to performance stages, instruments and a senior leadership team who is committed to the subject continuing to grow, as a vibrant part of the school community.

If you are an enthusiastic and imaginative practitioner, this is an opportunity to help establish a modern and pioneering Music Department.  The successful candidate must have confident keyboard skills, good knowledge of music technology including music notation apps and sequencing programmes and be familiar with incorporating performing/composing tasks on educational platforms such as Google Classroom. The ability to lead instrumental and vocal groups would be an advantage.

A commitment to active learning in the classroom with a willingness to participate fully in all aspects of school life within and beyond the classroom is a prerequisite. A commitment to providing high levels of pastoral care for students is essential.

We are looking for someone who is:

  • A Music specialist with a passion across the creative arts
  • An outstanding musician with excellent performing and directing skills.
  • Committed to outstanding teaching and learning practices, which result in successful outcomes for all of our students.
  • Able to think strategically and creatively with an excellent understanding of developments in the technology and information curriculum
  • Able to engage, motivate and inspire students and colleagues.
  • Enthusiastic and visionary with regard to curriculum implementation and extra-curricular opportunities
  • A successful practitioner with a track record of high expectations and successful outcomes.
  • Committed to their own professional development

Applications from NQTs and experienced staff will be equally valued.

The successful candidate will have a genuine passion to be part of the Greenshaw Learning Trust working at Stoke Damerel Community College, a belief in the potential of every child and that through hard work all students can access and benefit from a university and high level apprenticeship education, and the courage and vision to lead others in making this happen.

Greenshaw Learning Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

All teaching and support members of staff must undertake the required employment checks which include the uptake of references both professional and personal and a satisfactory enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) Check.
